About
Mapping Slavery is a public history project that focuses on the Dutch history of slavery and its intersections of the past and the material, asking questions like:
- Who were the people benefiting from slavery in the Dutch metropole and colonies?
- Where did they live and decide about the investments in slavery of the slave trade?
- What traces of slavery/enslavement can we find in the Netherlands, in the streets, in museums, in archives and in intangible heritage?
- What black presence was there in NL/Europe in earlier ages?
